Amnesty International Nigeria has reiterated its call for the release of the leader of Nigeria’s Islamic Movement, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.
El-Zakzaky has been in prison since 2015 after Nigerian soldiers killed more than 350 of his members in Zaria.
In a statement received on Saturday by DAILY TIME TV, the human rights group told President Muhammadu Buhari to obey court order and release the IMN leader who had been ordered by several competent courts to release.
The group said: “We are once again calling on @MBuhari to respect court order & rule of law by releasing leader of IMN; Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky whose health has been deteriorating, since his unlawful detention in 2015; after soldiers murdered over 350 of his followers in Zaria.”
